Autumn Poetry Writing Workshop

  • African American Research Library and Cultural Center 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33311 United States (map)

Poetry is an art of self-discovery and self-expression, free from rules or limitations. It can be a purely creative outlet as well as a tool for gentle healing. Anyone who can speak a language can write, and through these words we can find our unique voice. By getting in touch with our thoughts we learn to understand ourselves and our deepest truths. In this writing workshop, we'll explore our memories of, and intentions for, Autumn. We'll dig deep, pull out gems from our subconscious, and write poems to get our creative juices flowing. Expect a little bit of everything in this workshop: meditation, visualization, aromatherapy and writing. At the end of the workshop, anyone who wants to read their poem aloud, is encouraged to do so, knowing they are in a safe place to freely express their creative voice.
